I love Sailor Moon. I remember watching it with my sisters when it aired on TV back when I was in high school. We thought it was the best show ever. Even now that I'm older - having outgrown Sailor Moon - I find I still have a soft spot for it. So when the Brilliant Moon cosplay group was casting for members, I joined as Saturn. I've always wanted to cosplay from Sailor Moon!
In 2008, Tiffany (the founder of Brilliant Moon) and I thought that my daughter would make a cute little Princess Chibi-Usa. So in 2009, I made Chibi-Usa's pink princess dress from the 4th Sailor Moon artbook. This dress was an artbook only design; it never made it to the anime or manga, so it's a bit obscure. Here is a picture of all the Senshi Princesses.
I made the pink dress by modifying a little girl's special occasion dress pattern. It's made out of primrose satin from the Casa Satin Collection at Jo-ann. It is fully lined and has a built-in petticoat which makes the skirt poof out beautifully. The most irriating and time consuming part of making this dress was making all the scallops in the sleeves and in the overskirt! There are 90 scallops in the overskirt alone!
My daughter is much too young for a wig. So we decided to improvise with pigtails and pink hair accessories! ^_^
